are you happy with this painting? it makes me think of vikings (I see a viking helmet) and it has a kind of medieval feeling to me, like a figure with a helmet maybe sitting on a horse (there is an ear next to the red part), in old and dark times...it's so beautiful, the colors and the way they are applied....
I'm actually jealous I wish I could paint this way
there is so much hapening here...so much to see! your technique here went up in few levels. [or my imagenation. ] i can see some reflections, whats making it to look as a world in side of a world... for me its glowing and have this kind of feelings that i like to ask: " hey, where is the party?"
yes I'm satisfied. You (me) have to do a dark painting once in a while, and I was experimenting again with paint layering. Too dark for the average buyer, so it will probably end up *in the collection of the artist* ahahahahha
you can paint this way. I know your strapped for cash, but when it comes your way, you need...... A fast drying gel medium (one they say for impasto) Rags A paint knife Put the paint on the canvas with a knife, scrap as thin as you can, make marks, then wipe and work with a rag. Get rid of the obvious knife work. Do one layer a day.....till you have a painting, also work back into the semi dry paint with more color and a knife. Use Paynes Gray and mix that with cad yellow for an atmospheric green use colors straight from the tube/mixed with the gel/ and put highlights in with your fingers. The important thing is to do one thing at a time then rest and go away from the work. then come back and work the parts that don't make since or need work. Don't be afraid to cover nice areas even if they work as nice but don't work in the painting, for instance there was a gorgeous orange upper left corner in this painting...but it didn't work (look right) so it's gone.....
Anyway you will paint anyway you want....given time and canvas...
Thanks Hanna, Trying to ease my way into some work with some extra 3D depth. It's hard to say where it may go, but it's certainly more subtle than my normal bright colors.
ohh, if I had the cash....it's not too dark for me, but I guess I'm not the average buyer
thanks so much for these instructions, I will definately try it....and it sounds like a good lesson in patience, which I really should learn....well, you will notice when I've done one
No problem, Art is what *you* want to make, and how *you* want to paint. But trying what others say is a way to learn and find out whether it suits *you*. Cheers cat
The guitar is a musical instrument with ancient roots that is used in a wide variety of musical styles. It typically has six strings, but four, seven, eight, ten, and twelve string guitars also exist.
`karemelancholia is one of the most genuine deviants you could ever met. Always active and a true deviantART cheerleader and supporter in every aspect. You can always count on her to lend a hand or get involved, and you usually will find her doing large amounts of both at any given moment. She's consistently reports on contests around dA, showcases the efforts of her fellow artists and shows her charitable side through various activities. Besides all of this, she's a truly talented artist which is why she's an obvious choice for deviousness this month. Read More
